<h1>Marcahuasi, Adventure awaits you!</h1>

Marcahuasi is one of the magnetic centers in the world. There, the action of time and weather have huge blocks of stone in a series of enigmatic forms and figures that form a unique landscape.

On the plateau of "Marcahuasi" where you can see the outline of a gigantic human face. Plateau became famous in 1952 by the Peruvian explorer and philosopher, Dr. Daniel Ruzo. He named the rocks on the plateau in a very peculiar animal nicknames. His interpretation of the effect of sunlight on the rocks and their anthropological philosophy can be read in his book written at that time.

Marcahuasi Plateau is a place full of enigmas. It is decorated with hundreds of stone sculptures dating back thousands of years. Is just a few hours from Lima and owes its fame to the many rocks that resemble human profiles and animals as the llama, elephant or the sparrow.

Marcahuasi, is an ideal place for camping and rock climbing. The rock formations remind us difentes animals, but certainly the most striking are the human figures, among which highlights "The Monument to Humanity." In this impressive rock 25 meters clearly be seen a human profile, and if it remains on the plateau to camp you may find new ways because they change depending on different times and the angle at which sunlight projected shadows. Location:

Marcahuasi plateau is 84 km east of Lima (6 hours on average depending on the route you take in the final) and 3 km east of the town of San Pedro de Casta (3180 m) in Huarochirí province (Lima area).

How to get there?

To access Marcahuasi must go first to Chosica. If you take a public bus, arrive in two hours from Lima. Echenique Park in Chosica, buses depart San Pedro de Casta. There are 39 km away that are covered in four hours. The road is paved to a certain point and then is affirmed.

On reaching the village must head toward the stone forest. The only way to reach Marcahuasi is on foot. Are in total 4 km of steep trail to cross about three hours. On the way up to Marcahuasi can take two routes:

1. Short Route: It requires more effort. Entrance to the plateau by the Monument of Humanity and The Shack. The hike lasts 2 hours.

2. Route Amphitheatre: More extensive but less steep (except in the last section). The walk takes 3 hours.

What to take?

Do not forget to bring sunglasses, waterproof tent, warm clothes and two blankets per person. Nor preserved, lots of water and things that you can prepare the campfire. Do not forget to see the archaeological remains of Huacracocha and chullpas.
