Caleta de Catarindo, the Peruvian beach time
Caleta de Catarindo. Is the current principal port of Arequipa in southern Peru. Opened on January 6, 1951, is built on a sheltered bay with natural, but has been reinforced by two breakwaters, one of 659m and the other of 31m in length. The heads of both artificial defenses are the only entry that has the inner harbor or docking area for ships. The inner roads comprises a triangular area of 100 hectares, and its depth from 9 to 12 fathoms, in the spring can be up to 4 simultaneous berthing large ships.
Catarindo, is a narrow cove of calm waters just 2 miles north of Mollendo. Due to its proximity to the center of Mollendo, is visited in the summer season, especially for those who enjoy fishing.
